Welcome to Grimsby RUFC!

Welcome to Grimsby Rugby Union Football Club’s Home Page. The club was founded in 1885 and its clubhouse, bar and grounds are located at Springfield Road, Scartho Village in Grimsby, North East Lincs.

We have two regular senior playing sides and junior sides across the age-range, including girls’ teams. Information about the various junior teams, can be found on this website.

Our first XV play in the RFU Midlands 3 (East) North league. The second team plays in the Lincs Merit League. Senior training is every Tuesday and Thursday night from 7 to 9pm and everyone is welcome, whatever their skill level or playing position.

Annual Subscriptions are ONLY £30, or £25, with a discount of £5 if paid before 30th September and match fees are modest .We have a reduced membership scheme for students who are away at Colleges and Universities and play from time to time when they are back home, and match fees concessions for local students and the unemployed.

Our committee members will be pleased to see newcomers at any time, and a list of committee members is available on this website and in the clubhouse, along with contact details.

If you just want to come and play, watch, or volunteer to help with the running of the club, you will be most welcome. There is a home fixture most Saturdays during the season, which runs from September to May.

We would be pleased to see you.

On this site you can find a wealth of information and news about the club and our activities. We hope you are able to find what you are looking for, but if not, please use our contacts page to send us your details and suggestions.

Grimsby RUFC is looking for a suitable replacement for the current Senior Coach, Jim Saunders, who is retiring from the position at the end of this Season.

The position of Senior Coach is, of course, a voluntary one, as the club is not in a financial position to pay its coaches, but expenses will be reimbursed.

The Senior Coach would have overall responsibility for senior Training sessions and specifically for the coaching and management of the club's 1st team, and would need to be ordinarily available on Tuesday and Thursday nights for training, for the Selection meeting following the Tuesday training session and, of course, on those Saturdays when the 1st team have a match.

A good rugby background, with relevant experience is essential but formal coaching qualifications are not, although there will be an expectation that such qualifications will be obtained along the way.

The prospective coach does not necessarily have to be an existing club member, but would be expected to take up membership if appointed to the post.

Accordingly, if you are interested in becoming involved with the senior coaching set-up at Grimsby, please get in touch with me.

If you would like to discuss the matter informally with me or require any additional information, please telephone me on 01472 357291 (w) or 07759 482565.

Kind regards,

Lindsay Studd
